Daddy Does My Hair

Well, we wish he did! We're sure someday this little one will have a daddy to fix her hair.

We are always amazed at how expressive those little faces can be. Our doll baby Shuang is getting bigger and more alert ever day.

Super cute, isn't she?

Welcome Lifeworks 2!

Team 2 from Lifeworks International are here now and have begun their work with the children. They spend time rotating between the older children, and the babies in the baby home. Here are some photos of their first few days getting to know the Little Flower children.

This is Guang, and you would never know from this photo that he is completely blind. He looks so happy and confident to be on an outing with new friends!

Josie is also visually impaired. She is a very lively and active young girl who delights in the special attention that our Lifeworkers bring.

Max has a new friend too. Max is in high school now, and his English is getting better and better, so he helps translating when he can. Max has been offered an opportunity to visit Europe later this summer - he is very excited about that!

These three are getting acquainted with the little ones in the baby home.

Baby Xuan never fails to capture the hearts of those who meet him:

Mei Mei always soaks up attention:

We are so grateful to have these young people working with the children!

A new home - coming soon!

Work is proceeding on the new home for the babies. We are so excited! Windows are all in, walls have been added or moved, and bathrooms are being renovated specifically for caring for small infants. This home will have floor heating in the winter, and geothermal heating and cooling for maximum energy efficiency. There will be a total of 6 bedrooms, so that we can more effectively isolate very sick or tiny infants - something we have always struggled with.

There is space for the Little Flower office to move in with the babies- we can't wait for that, and plenty of space for our sewing room so that we can keep making our diapers, crib sheets and other items. There will be a dedicated laundry room and several new industrial size washers and dryers. We'll have three outside balconies where we can hang our laundry to dry in the sunshine. There is a large, semi-underground storage area for our warehouse needs, and will be a yard/garden where we can take the children outside to play.

Here is the kitchen and dining area:

This is the bathroom, where three baby changing / washing stations will be set up, along with a special baby bathtub:

This is the upstairs play area, large and sunny with plenty of natural light:

Can you see why we are excited?
